The Alf Morris School Trophy, Awarded to the All-Rounder for Grade 6
Wynberg Boys’ Junior awards evening acknowledges students’ achievements within a particular area in the classroom, on the sports fields or in the community. As its name suggests, the All Rounder Award recognises a student whose achievements span over a number of areas including academic studies, sports, cultural, conduct and potential leadership. Winners are characterised by their commitment to doing their best in all their pursuits, setting outstanding examples and assisting their peers and others.
The recipient of this award is a young man who has produced outstanding work in all areas throughout the year. Academically he has received an honours award this evening for obtaining an annual average of over 80%. In sport, he plays in the U12A Cricket team and U12A Hockey team. Touring with the U13A Hockey team this year to KEPS is also worth a mention.
In addition to all these outstanding sports and academic achievements, he still manages to balance his learning and sport with cultural and service involvement by playing the Piano, being involved with the Concert Band, Jazz Band, String Ensemble and Choir and is also an active member of the Early Act club. He has also been a member of the school’s Smart Club every year since inception- this means that each year he has received 4 or more blue merit certificates based on awards for good classwork.
This year, we are delighted to present this well-deserved award to Damian Philander
