In terms of section 5(5) of the South African Schools Act of 1996, the governing body of a public school must determine the admission policy of that school.
The Governing Body of WYNBERG BOYS’ JUNIOR SCHOOL has accordingly constituted the following as the admissions policy of the school, in the belief that its provisions are consistent with:
It is the aim of the school to:
It is the policy of the school that:
In order to achieve the foregoing, but also to ensure a just and equitable selection process, the measures listed below will be implemented during the management of the enrolment process.
1 The natural service area of the school is as follows:
Dwellings in the suburb of Wynberg and adjacent areas of greater metropolitan Cape Town as bounded by Table Mountain in the west, Constantia Road in the south, Rosmead Avenue in the east and Bowwood Road in the north, provided that they are closer to WBJS than to any other public primary school in the demarcated area.
2 The capacity of the school is 601 learners.
The capacity of the school is based on:
Final total number of admissions
The final number accepted into the school at any one time may vary from the above on the basis of specific enrolments and subject choices by individual pupils/parents in a particular year, but shall in any event not exceed the calculated capacity by more than 2% in any one class or grade without the ratification by the School Governing Body of a motivated explanation from the School Management Team for such excess.
Clarification of capacity of the school:
The capacity of 601 will ideally be dispersed across the various grades as follows:
Reception classes (Grade R): 2 classes x 25 learners each = 50 learners.
Foundation phase (Grades 1 – 3): 10 classes of 25 learners each = 250 learners.
Intermediate and senior phases (Grades 4 – 7): 13 classes x 27 learners each = 321 learners
Entire school 50 in Grade r plus 601 in grades 1 – 7.
